Privacy Policy

Japan Material Technologies Corporation (hereafter referred to as “the Company”) has established the following privacy policy (hereinafter referred to as the “Policy”) to handle personal information with utmost care in order to protect personal information received from customers, etc. (including contact persons at business partners and research institutions).

Article 1 (Personal Information)
The term “personal information” shall refer to “personal information” as used in the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (hereinafter referred to as the “Personal Information Protection Act”). Other terms used in this Policy shall have the meanings ascribed to them in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act.
Article 2 (Acquisition of Personal Information)
The Company shall acquire personal information to the extent necessary by lawful and fair means after specifying the purpose of use.
Article 3 (Purpose of obtaining and using personal information)
The purposes for which the Company collects and uses personal information are as follows.
  1. Negotiation, introduction, communication, contract, order placement, settlement of accounts, and other processing and management related to transactions with customers, etc.
  2. Transfer of the Company’s products, services, etc. during transactions with customers, etc.
  3. Announcement of events, exhibitions, etc. and provision of other information related to the Company’s products and services
  4. Improvement of the quality of the Company’s products and services, and planning and development of new products and services
  5. Research and analysis of marketing data and other information related to the Company’s products and services
  6. Response to various inquiries and requests for information materials from customers, etc.
  7. Information, contact, notification, etc., to job applicants, and communication with them
  8. In addition to the above, purposes of use presented to customers, etc. by the Company when personal information is provided
Article 4 (Change of Purpose of Use)
  1. The Company shall change the purpose of use of personal information only when it is reasonably deemed that the changed purpose is relevant to the original purpose before the change.
  2. When changing the purpose of use, the Company shall notify customers, etc. of the changed purpose of use by the method prescribed by the Company or publicly announce it on this website.
Article 5 (Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties)
  1. Except in the following cases, the Company will not provide personal information of customers, etc. to any third party without obtaining the prior consent of the individual concerned. However, this excludes cases permitted under the Personal Information Protection Act and other laws and regulations.
    1. When it is necessary for the protection of the life, body, or property of an individual and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the individual concerned
    2. When it is especially necessary to improve public health or to promote the sound growth of children and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the individual concerned
    3. When it is necessary to cooperate with a national agency, a local government, or an individual or entity entrusted by either a national agency or local government to execute affairs prescribed by law, and obtaining the consent of the individual concerned is likely to impede the execution of such affairs
    4. When the Company has notified or announced the following matters in advance, and when the Company has notified the Personal Information Protection Committee
      (i) The purpose of use includes provision to third parties
      (ii) Data items to be provided to third parties
      (iii) Means or method of provision to third parties
      (iv) Suspension of provision of personal information to third parties at the request of the individual concerned
      (v) Method of accepting the request of the individual concerned
  2. Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, the recipient of such information shall not fall under the category of a third party in the following cases.
    1. When the Company entrusts all or part of the handling of personal information within the scope necessary to achieve the purposes of use described in Article 3
    2. When personal information is provided following the succession of business due to merger or other reasons
Article 6 (Joint Use)

The Company shall share personal information of customers, etc. as follows.

Article 7 (Disclosure of Personal Information, etc.)
  1. When the Company is requested by an individual to disclose his/her personal information or records provided to a third party, or to notify the individual of the purpose of use, the Company shall disclose or notify such information to the individual without delay. However, if the disclosure or notification would result in any of the following cases, all or part of the information may not be disclosed or notified, and if the Company decides not to disclose or notify such information, the Company shall notify the individual to that effect without delay. Incidentally, a fee may be charged for the disclosure or notification of personal information as specified by the Company.
    1. If there is risk of harm to the life, body, property, or other rights or interests of the individual concerned or a third party
    2. If there is risk of significant hindrance to the proper conduct of the Company’s business
    3. If it violates any other laws or regulations
  2. Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, the Company will not disclose non-personal information, such as historical information and characteristic information, as a general rule.
Article 8 (Correction of Personal Information, etc.)
  1. Customers may request the Company to correct, add, or delete (hereinafter referred to as “corrections, etc.”) their personal information in accordance with the procedures established by the Company.
  2. If the Company receives a request from a customer, etc. as described in the preceding paragraph and deems it necessary to respond to that request, the Company shall correct, etc. the relevant personal information without delay.
  3. When the Company makes corrections, etc. based on the preceding paragraph, or when the Company decides not to make corrections, etc., the Company shall notify the customer, etc. without delay.
Article 9 (Suspension of Use of Personal Information, etc.)
  1. When the Company receives a request from an individual to stop using or delete his/her personal information (hereinafter referred to as “suspension of use, etc.”) on the grounds that it has been handled beyond the scope of the purposes of use or that it has been obtained through wrongful means, the Company shall conduct necessary investigation without delay.
  2. If, based on the results of the investigation described in the preceding paragraph, the Company determines that it is necessary to comply with the request, the Company shall suspend the use, etc. of the relevant personal information, etc. without delay.
  3. In the event of suspension of use, etc. based on the provisions of the preceding paragraph, or in the event of a decision not to suspend the use, etc., the Company shall notify the customer, etc. of this without delay.
  4. Notwithstanding the preceding two paragraphs, when alternative measures can be taken to protect the rights and interests of customers, etc. in cases where the suspension of use, etc. involves large cost or other difficulties, the Company shall take such alternative measures.
Article 10 (Changes to the Privacy Policy)
  1. The contents of this Policy may be changed without notice to customers, etc., except as otherwise provided by law or otherwise in this policy.
  2. Unless otherwise specified by the Company, the revised Privacy Policy shall take effect from the time it is posted on this website.
